Overview of the Glendore Childcare Centre Curriculum

At Glendore we place extremely high value on the environment. For this reason, careful attention to detail is encapsulated in our design to allow for rich, authentic experiences to occur on a full time basis.

We believe in being responsive and having a child-led approach to learning.

We empower children to make their own discoveries by freely enjoying the materials that have been placed in the environment for them to explore, allowing for meaningful learning.

We see the educators role is to meet each child exactly where they are, respecting their needs, honoring their interests and then planning the opportunities for learning to develop.
We believe in simplistic documentation that is practical and meaningful as we place value on the importance of educators being alongside the children every day.

We place great value on taking our time when implementing and the planning cycle and through the practice of critical reflection.

Educators view themselves as researchers of children’s play. We view children as capable and competent learners, and our role is to support each child to develop to their full potential.

Our educational programs are reflective of an emergent curriculum and adhere to guidelines set by ACECQA, National Quality Framework and The Early Years Learning Framework 2.0, whilst also taking each child’s development into account.

We believe the key to belonging is connection and to create a safe homelike environment where routines and transitions reflect a slow pedagogy. This means:

  • Valuing the present moment
  • Being attentive to children’s pace, rhythm and interests
  • Enabling children to revisit their ideas, learning, creations, places and stories
  • Providing time, space and opportunities for children to go deeper into their learning
  • Encouraging unhurried everyday routines with wonder and care
  • Discovering wonder and learning in the everyday and ordinary world
  • Allowing children to have ownership over their day and their learning
  • Working collaborative with families to build positive relationships that enable us to have a holistic, integrated and interconnected approach to each child’s learning and care.
